ALTONE
is a collaboration between musician/composer Alex Doré
and neo Beat Poet Tony Seymour. The fusion of their
music and beat poetry in "Tales from the Black
House" is collectively inspired by the lifeblood of their
lives, experiences and souls, and 20 years of gatherings
at Caffe Trieste in San Francisco.
Alex Doré
is a composer, musician and producer. His
background is a diverse blend of
international music, ranging from classical,
jazz, to blues, R&B, funk, and Brazilian
samba. Alex’s main instruments are bass
and guitar, also playing keyboards, drums
and percussion in the studio. He played with
Miles Davis, Sly and the Family Stone
(1977-1980), Problem Child (formerly
Quicksilver Messenger Service 1985–1986),
and was part of Family Without Stone
(1987-1989).
Tony
Seymour was mentored by Jazz poet Bob
Kaufman. His collected works of over
1200 poems is held in the
African-American Writers collection,
in the Rare Book Room, Bancroft
Library, at the University of
California, Berkeley. His belief in
the necessity and responsibility for
him as a writer to pursue the truth,
is highlighted in "America
(1492-1992) The Flipside", which
reverses White and Black History in
America, resulting in the President
residing in "The Black
House".
